Ihre Aufgaben

Diese Position nimmt eine Schlüsselrolle im Aufbau ein, da sie als zentrale Schnittstelle zwischen den wissenschaftlichen Trägerinstitutionen und dem Science Communication Center agiert. Sie sind verantwortlich für die Entwicklung, Strukturierung und Umsetzung von inhaltlichen und prozessbezogenen Konzepten, die der Generierung potenzieller Ausstellungsthemen und innovativer Vermittlungsformate dienen.

Dabei gestalten und moderieren Sie komplexe Kooperationsprozesse, entwickeln kreative Formen der Zusammenarbeit und arbeiten eng mit dem Ausstellungsteam zusammen, um wissenschaftliche Perspektiven in kuratorische und gestalterische Konzepte zu übersetzen. Darüber hinaus initiieren, organisieren und leiten Sie – in enger Abstimmung mit den wissenschaftlichen Partnerinstitutionen – Forschungs- und Transferprojekte im Bereich der Wissenschaftsvermittlung.

Ihre zentralen Aufgaben umfassen:

Entwicklung und Umsetzung von Prozesskonzepten zur inhaltlichen Zusammenarbeit mit den Trägerinstitutionen
Laufende Einholung und Integration von Feedback sowie kontinuierliche Weiterentwicklung des inhaltlichen Entwicklungsprozesses
Erstellung und Pflege von Zeit- und Ablaufplänen
Organisation und Moderation von Interaktionsformaten (z. B. Workshops, Labs, Besprechungen)
Koordination und Begleitung von Beiratssitzungen
Dokumentation und Reporting der Prozessergebnisse
Zusammenarbeit mit dem Bereich Ausstellungsdesign zur Umsetzung der im Prozess erarbeiteten Inhalte
Konzeption, Koordination und Begleitung gemeinsamer Forschungs- und Förderprojekte zur Wissenschaftsvermittlung
Organisation und Betreuung von Ausschreibungen (Calls) für neue Wissenschaftskommunikationsprojekte

Ihr Profil

Sie bringen analytisches Denken, strukturiertes Arbeiten und ein tiefes Verständnis wissenschaftlicher Kulturen mit. Ihre Erfahrung in dynamischen, kooperativen Projektkontexten ergänzt Ihre konzeptionelle Stärke und kommunikative Klarheit.

Was Sie mitbringen sollten:

Abgeschlossenes Studium, idealerweise in Science and Technology Studies, Wissenschaftsgeschichte oder verwandten Feldern
Fundierte Erfahrung in der Prozess- und Organisationsentwicklung
Nachgewiesene Projektmanagementkompetenz, vorzugsweise im Wissenschafts- oder Kulturbereich
Erfahrung in inter- und/oder transdisziplinärer Projektarbeit
Kenntnisse des zeitgenössischen Ausstellungswesens, insbesondere im Bereich interaktiver und partizipativer Formate
Erfahrung mit der Entwicklung und Umsetzung von Forschungs- und Förderprojekten von Vorteil
Ausgeprägte Kommunikations- und Moderationskompetenz
Eigenverantwortliche, strukturierte und lösungsorientierte Arbeitsweise
Sehr gute Deutsch- und Englischkenntnisse in Wort und Schrift

Science Communication Center

Mit dem Science Communication Center (SCC) entsteht im Herzen Wiens das größte Zentrum für moderne Wissenschaftsvermittlung in Österreich. Ab 2027 lädt das SCC auf rund 4.000 m² zu interaktiven Ausstellungen, Mitmachlaboren, Veranstaltungen und Dialogräumen ein – ein Ort, an dem Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft auf Augenhöhe in Austausch treten.

Ziel ist es, Begeisterung für Forschung zu wecken, wissenschaftliches Denken erlebbar zu machen und Vertrauen in wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse zu fördern.

Das SCC ist ein gemeinsames Projekt der Universität Wien, der Technischen Universität Wien und der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften. Es entsteht in enger Kooperation mit dem Bundesministerium für Frauen, Wissenschaft und Forschung sowie dem Bundesministerium für Bildung. Im denkmalgeschützten Gebäude der Aula der Wissenschaften entsteht so ein lebendiger Ort der Auseinandersetzung mit aktuellen Forschungsthemen und zentralen Zukunftsfragen.

Besonderes Augenmerk gilt jungen Zielgruppen – vor allem Schüler*innen ab zehn Jahren und jungen Erwachsenen. Dabei versteht sich das SCC nicht als klassisches Museum, sondern als generationenübergreifende Plattform für Wissenschaftskommunikation mit hoher gesellschaftlicher Relevanz.

Your mission

This position plays a key role in the organization’s development, acting as a central interface between the scientific partner institutions and the Science Communication Center. You will be responsible for developing, structuring, and implementing content-driven and process-oriented concepts aimed at generating potential exhibition topics and innovative science communication formats.

You will design and moderate complex cooperation processes, develop creative forms of collaboration, and work closely with the exhibition team to translate scientific perspectives into curatorial and design concepts. In addition, you will initiate, organize, and lead research and transfer projects in the field of science communication – in close coordination with the scientific partner institutions.

Your core responsibilities include:

Developing and implementing process concepts for content collaboration with partner institutions
Continuously gathering and integrating feedback, and refining the content development process
Creating and maintaining timelines and process schedules
Organizing and moderating interactive formats (e.g. workshops, labs, meetings)
Coordinating and supporting advisory board meetings
Documenting and reporting on process outcomes
Collaborating with the exhibition design team to implement content developed during the process
Designing, coordinating, and supporting joint research and funding projects in science communication
Organizing and managing calls for proposals for new science communication projects

Your profile

You bring analytical thinking, a structured approach to work, and a deep understanding of scientific cultures. Your experience in dynamic, collaborative project environments complements your conceptual strength and clear communication skills.

What you should bring:

A completed degree, ideally in Science and Technology Studies, History of Science, or a related field
Solid experience in process and organizational development
Proven project management skills, preferably in the science or cultural sector
Experience in inter- and/or transdisciplinary project work
Familiarity with contemporary exhibition practices, particularly in interactive and participatory formats
Experience in developing and implementing research and funding projects is an asset
Strong communication and facilitation skills
A self-directed, structured, and solution-oriented working style
Excellent written and spoken German and English skills

About us

Science Communication Center

Located in the heart of Vienna, the Science Communication Center (SCC) will become Austria’s largest hub for modern science communication. Starting in 2027, the SCC will offer approximately 4,000 m² of interactive exhibitions, hands-on labs, events, and spaces for dialogue between science and society — a place where exchange happens on equal footing.

The goal is to spark enthusiasm for research, make scientific thinking tangible, and foster trust in scientific knowledge.

The SCC is a joint initiative of the University of Vienna, the Vienna University of Technology, and the Austrian Academy of Sciences. It is being developed in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research and the Federal Ministry of Education. Situated in the heritage-listed Aula der Wissenschaften, the center will serve as a dynamic venue for engaging with current scientific developments and key questions for the future.

Particular focus is placed on young audiences — especially school pupils aged ten and above, as well as young adults. The SCC does not see itself as a traditional museum, but as an intergenerational platform for science communication with significant societal relevance.
